Hi! I'm Alice. I'm an 18 year old who recently quit college to work two part-time jobs and focus on my writing. It was a hard decision(to some it may seem like a silly one); I love learning and college was a good experience, but it just wasn't the place for me at this point in my life. I love history, foreign languages, mythology, and running. I am bilingual (English and Spanish) but I have a solid foundation in several other languages; French, Chinese, Korean, and a bit of German. Many of my novels take root in myths, legends, or history (although I've never written anything historical fiction). As for running, it's about the only thing that gives me a much of a rush as writing.
This is my first year doing HistNoWriMo, but, like I mentioned before, this is also my first ever time writing historical fiction. While I love reading it, I was never quite sure how to approach writing it. This month, however, I've decided to just face the genre head on and try something new for a change. I have been participating in NaNoWriMo since 2009 when my 9th grade English teacher challenged me with the event for a passing grade in her class (for a writer and a reader, I never have done very well in English classes). I have won three times since then (not counting my Camp victories, which I have lost track of). I normally write paranormal (no, not like Twilight *rolls eyes*), science fiction, and the occasional fantasy. I like to mix elements of the mystery and thriller genres into my projects too.
Now, time for a quick word about the title of my thread here: It is a William Faulkner quote from "Requiem of a Nun". The lovely picture is a photo of the Colosseum in Rome, courtesy of Google.
I will post a little later about the projects and goals I hope to achieve this month. Until then...
Happy Writing
~Alice~
