Wow, guys! February really snuck up on me! I'm sorry I didn't post earlier. I hope you all enjoyed our inaugural year of HistNoWriMo! Our numbers were only a few this year, but I think it's a great beginning, and hopefully we'll have more joining us next year.
Later this year, I'll archive the threads that were relevant only to this year, like the specific novel progress threads, and such. but general threads and research and brainstorming threads will remain.
If you are interested in TGHNS, or the Great Historical Novel Swap, just comment on this thread, and we can figure out how we want to share our works, or at least what we have so far.
Of course the forums will be open for the rest of the year if we want to use them, but I'm guessing I'll be seeing most of you around the GothNoWriYe forums, but I promise to check in occasionally to see if anything important is going on. don't forget to let me know if you have suggestions or improvements for next year's event!
Have a happy rest of the year, everyone! See you around the various writing websites. Keep up that great writing!

Great! What do you think would be a good way to go about it?
Also, should we be editing and critiquing? Or just reading? Or should we make it the choice of the owner of the book?

I think that editing/suggestions would be good-can't hurt, can it? We can contact each person and perhaps use an online source like google docs to share, then we can read whomever we've decided to work with.

Hey, Rhia. I'm definitely in, though it might be awhile until I get my novel out. Also, I agree with Ivy: we should definitely make suggestions. I found this browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=beta+reader+#/d2iu2i2 on dA; it's a beta reader questionnaire. Perhaps we can take it, Frankenstein some other questions on it, and use it. That way we have a place to keep track of our suggestions. Lemme know what you think. Like I said on my "victory" post, I probably won't be done until May or June, but I'll read your novels now. (I read so much faster than I write, lol). Also- Google Docs makes me weary. Is it possible to password protect something on Google Docs? (I know, I'm paranoid). Super pumped about this. TGHNS for the win!!!

I think that's a great idea, Anne! And then if we want anyone to go a little further, or into more detail we can just ask. I'm fine with waiting, I think we should be able to swap novels any time. Our stories are like people, always growing and changing, and we have to go with the flow.
I don't know anything about Google docs in that respect. I can look it up. We will figure something out, and it's better safe than sorry. If we have to, we could create like a skydrive account or something that we all share, and put anything we want to swap in there.
I'll look into both of those options, and get back to you guys on here.
As my my draft, it's only the beginning of the story, and I have no idea when I will go back and finish it. (A new project has utterly consumed. I'm even spacing out all the time, thinking about it.) I'd still like to share it with you guys, and your opinions on what I have so far, though I know the very beginning is a little sketchy. It might inspire me to work at it again.

Well, Google Docs can be, from what I've just figured out, restricted to only those with a link, or the people we list, which requires a sign-in.
So I'll leave up to you guys. Google Docs? shared SkyDrvive? Any other ideas?

@ Rhia Got to agree with you; stories ARE like people (I've got to admit, my stories are my babies. I'm slightly ashamed). I'd love to hear about your story idea! Sometimes it's nice to have someone listen to an idea- it definitely helps to inspire. Also, I don't think it matters between Google Docs and Skydrive; I'm impartial now that I know Google Docs is secure. It's up to you guys!

I'm thinking google docs would probably better, because that way we can each have better control over what we share. what do you all think?

I'm up for google docs-and we'll just create a joint, private account or something? And Anne-I love the Beta Reader Questionnaire. Definitely useful, even for the author looking over their own work. I have not finished my story, either. It's definitely in the process, but if we do this any time in the near future I don't think it will be finished. But I'm up for sharing drafts
