Seeing as October has been relatively generous with my free-time, I want to start planning for all the WriMos I'm doing while I still have the means. Before I can plan however, I need to know which story I'm writing. That's where you WriMos come in. ;D
Basically, I have my story in mind. It was one of my first story ideas and is turning four years old in April. The problem is that I have three versions of it, and I'm not sure which one would be best. The gist of all of the versions is this (and please, bare with me if this is sort of hard to read): The story takes place in London in the 1890s unless otherwise stated. Louis, the main protagonist, is a scientific prodigy who was booed out of Cambridge for some unorthodox ideas. After being humiliated, he changes his name and decides to pursue another talent of his-music. He ends up forming a duo with a Cockney girl named Holly, and they become ALL THE RAGE in the music halls by day. By night, he's still pursuing his scientific no-nos and Holly is helping him. They get married, she dies in childbirth. This is where the stories start to diverge.
Storyline 1 or Realistic) This storyline only focuses on their lives in the music halls and doesn't focus on the science aspect or their marriage. It takes place in complete, real life Victorian Britain and deals with things such as social classes, discrimination, and forgiveness.
Storyline 2 or Realistic with a hint of magic) This storyline focuses on their marriage. Louis uses his unorthodox experiments to try to bring her back, but doesn't think it works. This still takes place in Victorian Britain, there's just, well, some Frankenstein. This deals with where scientists should draw the line when dealing with biology, as well as social classes, discrimination, and forgiving.
Storyline 3 or Steampunk Version)
This is the crazy one. Takes place in what's supposed to be Edwardian London right before WW1. The main character is Kat, Louis and Holly's daughter. She had some gene-splicing done at birth to save her life (this goes along with her mom, you know, dying
). Long story short, she and her twin brothers have been separated and her dad- Louis- is missing. With the help of her American cousin she tries to find her family. Along the way, we learn of Louis and Holly's experiments, how the government is involved, and we get to sing Ta-ra-ra-Boom-de-ay whilst flying air ships and wearing goggles.
Whew! That was a mouthful! Regardless, I'd love to know which version you prefer. Thanks for the help!
